ART DIRECTION + ICON SYSTEM

ADT+ App Icon System

With the new partnership between ADT + Google blossoming, in addition to adjusting our marketing guidelines for print and digital platforms, it meant that it was a great time to consolidate all the creative assets being used within the organization. This included bridging communication between the brand team to web + e-commerce and product design team. I managed to build relationships with leaders and colleagues from both departments and hear their concerns for the new web and app launch.

The main concern and task at hand was to develop a more cohesive and easy-to-follow library of iconography. The system would develop a 24px and 192px set to ensure each icon could be used accordingly based on platform. 24px focused for app and web purposes, while the 192px for larger marketing assets.

Icons designed as Brand Icons would have a 192px version that’s print-friendly with more details included and a 24px version that’s mobile-friendly, with minimal detail but keeping important elements in. A keyline grid was created for both sizes so that any future icons created are in the proper size.

And to give our teams more creative freedom, brand color versions were developed to be leveraged based on needs.
